Cyndi’s Bio

At the early age of 4 Cyndi began her music journey thriving under the teaching of Maude Flemming.

In 1985-87 Cyndi became a certified Music For Young Children teacher being personally mentored by Ruth Muxworthy and Francis Balodis.

In her teen years, Cyndi studied voice with Jane Black.  She worked through the Royal Conservatory curriculum achieving her ARCT in Voice Performance and Voice Pedagogy.

In 1988 Cyndi recorded a music special for the local television station CKVR.  In 1989 she completed her BMus from Redeemer College in Ancaster Ontario where she studied with Paul Coates.

Cyndi was the first Music Major to graduate from Redeemer College and the format she created for her Senior Recital is used to this day.

Throughout her studies, she competed in many Music Festivals winning numerous Awards and Scholarships.

In 1992-1998 Cyndi directed a local Church Choir, developing their music library through fund raising Concerts.

Over the years, she has participated in a number of recording projects as a back up vocalist and lead vocalist.

Her first album, A New Commandment, recordings of Hymns and Sacred Songs, sold out within five months.

Cyndi participates in music ministry at her home church as well as locally for weddings, funerals and special events.

Music has always been a part of Cyndi’s life, continuing her professional development has aided in her growth as a teacher, musician, composer and performer.

Studio Teaching Experience

Cyndi began her teaching career at the age of 19.  From 1990-2001 Cyndi managed a private music studio at the Holland Marsh District Christian School in Newmarket, teaching Voice, Piano and Theory. In 2003-present she manages a private music studio at Timothy Christian School in Barrie, teaching Voice, Piano and Theory.  During this time she also managed a music studio at Unity Christian High School in Barrie for 10 years.  Her hybrid home studio, offers Voice, Piano and Theory lessons with the option of One on One or Group lessons, In Person or Online.  Over the years, Cyndi has prepared students for auditions, conservatory exams, theory exams, practical exams, music festivals, guest music events and recitals.  She organizes and facilitates two recitals a year along with opportunites for solo presentations.

Teaching Style

By becoming a certified Ultimate Music Theory teacher, Cyndi learned about neurolinguistic programming.  Teaching to all three learning modalities, Visual, Aural and Kinesthetic through gamification.  Cyndi uses her Music For Young Children training along with her current knowledge to offer a full experience in her studio.
