Piano Lessons
Beginner students will be introduced to the Piano Adventure series by Faber and Faber or the Carol Matz Interactive Piano Method. These student centered approaches use analysis, creativity and expression to develop a “musical mind and heart”. We transition to the Royal Conservatory or Canadian Conservatory curriculum where we work on graded material. Preparation towards music festivals, local recitals and exams are part of Cyndi’s hybrid music studio. RCM and Canadian Conservatory exams also apply towards High School Art Credits. In person lessons are taught on a 6′ 1″ Kawai grand piano, there are two midi digital keyboards also available in the studio. On line lessons are taught via Zoom or Forte Lessons using screen share with multiple camera angles along with online apps for an interactive and engaging experience.

Cyndi is a wonderful piano and theory teacher. She is very knowledgeable about theory and technique, and is engaging and passionate about music. She helped select music for my daughter that my daughter would enjoy, and was flexible in her teaching format (in person vs. Zoom). I would highly recommend Cyndi as a piano and/or theory teacher.
Thank you so much Cyndi for your time and investment into Matilda. We really appreciate you.

We have been fortunate to have Cyndi as a piano teacher for our daughter, Heather. It is obvious Cyndi has an excellent rapport with her students as Heather has enjoyed her time in lessons a great deal. More than that, she has developed a love for music through Cyndi’s easy-going and cheerful personality. We always appreciate the wide variety of musical selections which Cyndi incorporates into her program. Cyndi’s positive and encouraging method of teaching is reflected in Heather’s continued success at the piano and her ability to do well in her Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.

My daughter has studied piano with Cyndi from the ages of 6-13, and my daughter loves it and plays beautifully, progressing up through grade 2 RCM. Cyndi is joyful, positive and always encouraging teacher. The kids love getting reward stickers and treats and even special packets delivered to the home. Recitals are always a delight to see how kids are improving. During the pandemic, Cyndi went to every length to keep lessons going and kids connected and safe, online or in person. My daughter is asked her preferences on pieces to learn. During some difficult times in my daughter’s life, Cyndi was very supportive and took the effort to accommodate needs.
